Discovery Education Network Science for Middle School - 4-Year Free License for Connecticut Schools

On December 8, 2008, Dr. Mark K. McQuillan, Commissioner of Education, sent a letter to all Connecticut Superintendents of School announcing that the CT State Department of Education had acquired a four-year license to Discovery Education Science for Middle School — an award winning standards-based multimedia resource that powers any middle-school science curricula with virtual labs, simulations, interactive videos, reading passages and more, coupled with a real-time assessment component that measures students’ progress. This four-year license is being provided by the Connecticut Education Network (CEN) through the Commission for Educational Technology (CET) at no cost to school districts.

During the month of January, 2009, Connecticut school districts were contacted by a representative from Discovery Education who provided them with information on how to provide all of their Grades 6-8 students and their science teachers with access to these wonderful resources. If you are in an EASTCONN area district and your district has not been contacted by Discovery Education, send an e-mail to Jane Cook at janecook@earthlink.net and she will follow up.
